I had occasion to use my emergency chemo number when I had 10 days of diarrhoea. It started 2 days after first chemo. They took me in did a barrage of tests and said diarrhoea was due to ‘overflow’ of the bowels because of constipation!! Had enemas and took home loads of tablets, took 5 days to clear. It’s happening again, very next day after 2nd chemo on 4th May. Would you bother calling and taking sample up for testing as last time or just treat as constipation again? I hate all the hassle of going to A&E …
Hi, I had chest pains 7 days after first chemo and back pains 7 days after second chemo, I rang and was rightly advised to go to a & e on both occasions. Pain eased within the hour and I spent 10 hours there. They found nothing so I am in the same frame of mind if problems arise again. I would ring anyway and get their advice. God luck.
That’s what’s so gruelling Mummy.M. The waiting times BUT they’re so thorough and we are blessed to have the NHS and free treatment. Better to be safe than sorry I know. Sorry to hear you’re having to suffer chest/back pains. My neighbour gets those every chemo (she has lung C). What we have to endure! Glad you’re in better shape albeit temp. X
Hi, I suffered terrible constipation just after having treatment, had not gone for 6 days, rung emergency cancer hospital number had to go, doc prescribed a cocktail of laxatives to take to clear it, laxido, docusate and senna. Did sort it out to the point where I had diarrhoea but that's because it was all backed up, so my oncologist did suggest I start taking laxido the day before I had chemo to keep bowels regular and then docusate and senna when I needed to. Never got constipation again during chemo. Hope this helps, good luck xx
Can I ask what drug people are on? I'm starting paclitaxel soon after having ec. Just wondering if its something to maybe expect as I've not been too bad up to now in that department. Nothing would suprise me though.
