Because I am from the United States I have decided to leave this site.
I can't say THANK YOU ENOUGH to the people who supported me when i was frightened to find out I had Breast Cancer.
The reason I am leaving is because the treatments are different than here in the US.....
Our treatment teams are also different. I had a question today and I know that we use different terminolgy for different things and I don't want to be more confused than I already AM.
Again, Thank you to those who supported me.
I wish everyone the best on their journeys in this short span of life that we have.
XO Missy
Hi what a shame you feel you need to leave site to avoid confusion . Have a look at “walking back to happiness “ thread and the
” Awake “thread . We have a good chat about all sorts of things and sometimes just go on to vent or release some tension . On WALKING BACK TO HAPPINESS THREAD we post pics and chat about our walks . Please feel free to jump in there any time .
Best wishes with the rest of your treatment
I have always liked UK sites and Drs and it was just a preference of mine.
But terms and treatments in USA are more familiar to me for Cancer.
For example i think ya'll call the operating room a "theatre" in the US a theatre is where we go to watch movies! Lol
I’m also in the USA but I was born and raised in the UK (Expat). I joined this group as I relate to the banter, and I worked for the NHS decades ago, so I’m interested in learning about how our experiences through this journey are similar and/or different. Plus, I find this site easier to navigate than the US sites I’ve been on.
Best wishes!
Hello ,
Oww sweetheart,
I pray and hope your joinery goes well, remember it is like a 'roller coaster ride' the ticket you never wanted to buy - you just got pushed on the ride and away it's gone ..... you will have many 'up's and 'downs' - it is how it is, just remember eventually the ride will stop - you'll get off straighten yourself up and life will carry on.
Do what feels right for you - ask questions, speak up, speak out - whatever makes you feel at ease - remember some of the hardest times are at the beginning 'the waiting' - once they give you a plan you will more comfortable. The waiting on results is tough - you will get through it.
Oww and we call the movies the theatre too - well more so if we went to see actors on stage we would call that going to the 'theatre' .... and for some reason we call the operating room just this the operating room, but it changes once in there, we are in the theatre arrrrghhh
How we feel on this journey makes no difference to where we are in the world, we are all here for each other......
I can't help wonder if you are leaving due to a post been taken down - if it is this, don't leave for this reason, the moderators have strict guidelines as to what they will and won't allow. Many of us on here have had this happen - it hurts at first thinking we have done wrong - yet we soon realise its not about us, its about them. If it is this then consider staying..... if I have it wrong then I am sorry for thinking it was related.
Try and stick around - but, we understand if you do want to go and more so..... "We will miss you" - and please remember we are here for you if you need our support or advice, a laugh, a shoulder, an ear, a couple of arms, we have them all waiting here for you.
Take care of you xxxx
Here is a link to the 'AWAKE' thread that Northerner mentioned - this is where most of us nip in and out all of the time, for a laugh, for advice to sound off or in my case to moan that I've not done any work
Just read your profile and I'm stewing about....the in place radiation you had...I WANT THAT...I have to look it up and see if they do it in the US because I have an appointment today for an ultrasound so they can determine what lymph nodes they are going to remove to check - I also have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, the Surgeon said she is 99% sure is Stage 1.
The UK sites are ALSO MORE ACTIVE. And I think that is why I have ALWAYS joined UK sites.
But most of the UK sites I joined were for alcoholism and mental health issues...and the terminolgies and treatments in those areas are very similar so I never struggled.
The US sites....I noticed most of the posts I was reading yesterday were from 2003! LOL
I did join a US site yesterday that seems somewhat active....but if it is not active enough for me...like this one....I will stick with this one......
Its just confusing enough in a time like this....then to have my questions not understood...sometimes when I am in a fit of panic....is tough.
I can totally see if I had lived in the UK and worked for the NHS....I would also be more comfortable here....Its not the people HERE....by ANY MEANS....It is the terminology.
I don't know why I said I will stick with this site...I will visit this site....MAYBE end up only using this site if the US site is not ACTIVE or responsive enough.
Hugs....xo
