I've messaged on here about it, but I wanted to start a new thread.
Speaking to a doctor on Tuesday, to ask questions about me having chemo with a blood clot, diagnosed this week.
Spoke to breast care clinic, apparently they don't bother checking your viens, or of blood clot is gone on these new blood thinners.
Breast care team said that it's fine to have chemo with a blood clot.
I have a family history of dvt, my auntie had it, a blood clot on the lung, my nan , suffered blood clots , brother suffering a pulmonary embolism , survived it we dont know how as he had about 30 clot in his lungs, on blood thinners for life all because he was on meds like me and they never checked him.
I was checked for factor 5 but don't have it, was told it's due to cancer & chemo but this does not make me feel any better.
I was more healthy when I had cancer, now I'm just a physical mess.
My anxiety is through the roof, my concerns about treatment is so severe right now .
Has anyone been ok with chemo and having a blood clot at the same time, ?or did they give you chance to recover?
I don't want to end up on warfarin for life, or on life support as it's affected me.
No one in the clinic can seem to reassure me as of yet.
It was my choice to have chemo Aswell as Im 36, had the oncotype score of 23, advised to have chemo by oncologist due to it being invasive dics but didn't spread to the lymps, and being so young.
Had surgery already so as far as I know it's out.
I feel like I've made the wrong choice ,and want to end the chemo now.
Hi Etna
I had blood clot in picc line but not completely occluded on ultra sound. I was started on blood thinning injections and then swapped to rivaroxaban. I continued my chemotherapy without any changes to the regime and came off the anticoagulant 3 months after chemo finished. No one seemed phased by this although I was concerned and fed up, it does seem to be one thing after another but it does get over.

Hi,
Did you suffer after with blood clots and did you feel ok having chemo & blood thinners at same time ?
Hi,
I was a bit anxious about having treatment through the picc line but I was assured it was fine to still use and to continue with the treatment. My arm felt a bit achy and I was relieved to get rid of the picc line when my treatment finished but no problems taking blood thinners with the chemotherapy.
I have just finished the anticoagulants and so far no problems.
