Appointment today to discuss treatment ,,the benefits of chemo (are there any? and side effects and the chances of cancer returning , without ,,,any one else ,who has had surgery decide against chemo ,,and what made you decide ? Thank you
The NHS Predict tool may help you see the statistics for women of your age with the same type of cancer. The tool will show you survival statistics with and without chemo (if you don't know what type of chemo, you can try all options in the tool.)
In order to make an informed decision you need more data. Once question you could ask is how exactly the type of chemo they are recommending going to fight cancer cells.
Then it's a question of assessing risks and inconveniences of chemo versus risk of recurrence both long and short term. There are a lot of opinions, all based on the same sets of data, so when it comes down to making the decision it is indeed an individual choice.
I gathered all the data I could find, from reliable sources, looked at the statistical probabilities, and decided to go with the chemo they were suggesting on two separate occasions. Others may choose otherwise. So my main recommendation here is -- get as much reliable information as you can so you can make the best decision for yourself.
I find NHS Predict hard to use tbh. Unsure which generation chemo I'm having (not been mentioned) and no idea how to fill in Ki67 data. Jo
