Day four following first Docetaxil on Thursday. I’ve been blessed this far with my first 3 EC’s, but the docetaxil was a bit of an eye opener. Although it’s not unbearable, it seems to be affecting my digestive system (constipation etc. although I’m still “going”). A few creeping pains and a bit of trouble sleeping soundly. I’m not sure if it’s the docetaxil or the filgrastim! Anyway, main thing is a bit of tightening in the jaw and a few headaches (not something I’ve had in my normal life before or since chemo), again, NOT unbearable, just annoying! I’m taking the antihistamine with the filgrastim and don’t seem to be feeling much bone pain, just a few radiating sensations. Lost my appetite earlier in the day, but I’ve just found it (5.30pm) Anyway, I’m not too bad, managed a 90 minute dog walk this morning. Wishing the days away, hoping to feel a bit more normal in a day or two. Any comments welcome regarding experiences of docetaxil (don’t suppose it gets any better ). All the best to everyone! xxx
Hi, I coped ok through 6 cycles and my blog might help, good luck
Hi Mazz - do you always have to take the Filgastim, with every infusion? Or is it only because your white cells dropped too low? (Did you have to take it while you had your ECs)? Hope you feel better soon. Sorry I have no experiences yet as I have not started chemo yet, but wish you all the best and thank you for sharing your experiences
Just taking it with this lot, Docetaxil. Didn’t need it with EC. I believe it’s routine to take it with docetaxil for everyone. I have one more injection to take tonight and I’m seriously thinking about giving it a miss! Going to speak to nurse later to see what they suggest! Feel absolutely wretched, don’t think I can have another one of these treatments . Fingers crossed I’ll start to pick up as the day goes on xx
Hope you’re feeling ok Lisa! I feel like I’ve been run over with a steam roller! Such a shock! Not sure if it’s the docetaxil or the injections. I was ok earlier in the week and felt fine which is why I’m blaming the injections. Last jab tonight, dreading it. Hope you fair better xxxx
I was until 3.30 this morning when the bus hit me! Same here, I thought this is going to be easier than EC and again not sure if it's the injections of docetaxil!? I have to have a NADIR blood test tomorrow with the docetaxil so might ask the question. I think you start the injections before me (Started mine on Sunday) ?
Having paracetamol which is taking the edge off and not planning on doing much today!
Hope you feel better soon xx
I started jabs Friday! I’m sure it’s them causing the issues! I feel a bit better at the moment, had a couple of painkillers and a shower and trying to have a word with myself! May feel better after my dog walk, we’ll see! Best of luck, keep smiling! xx. Be interesting to see what they say at your blood test x
No didn’t have them with EC! It’s deffo the jabs causing the issues, I start to feel rubbish in the evening after I have it, achey with cramps, jaw pain and digestive problems, and difficulty sleeping. I do feel a bit better now. Think I’m going to skip the last one tonight, I’ll speak to breast nurse! Ooh dear, what a pickle! We’ll get through it, we just need to be brave xxxx
Hiya I found docetaxel much more bearable than EC. I had very little sickness with docetaxel but I would say a stronger feeling of tiredness and a lack of appetite. I think by the time you start on the docetaxel your body has already been through a lot and it's the cumulative effects rather than just the drug that is having the impact. Filgristram stopped me sleeping so I took it as early as I could to try and help with this. I also got some sleeping tablets from gp which I only ever took half off when I had no sleep for a few nights. It's important to get rest however you manage it. It's amazing what a good night's sleep will do!!! I think more than anything I felt like I had flu, achy and lethargic and I had got used to having a good week whilst on ec which disappeared to the end. The injections did cause horrendous back pain but only on one cycle so side effects can alter each time. Good luck xxx
