Hi, had a mastectomy 4 months ago no recon. Healed well but had quite a lot of seroma. My particular breast unit does not drain seromas because of infection risk and as i wasn't in any pain i wasn't too bothered. Been left with awful looking hard swelling which my surgeon has said is enscapulated seroma. Basically it's where fibrous capsules have formed around the seroma where my body has failed to absorb it. Waiting for appointment with a radiographer now but looks very likely I'll have to have surgery to remove it. Gutted as I've already had 3 surgeries in the last 6 months. There is no information about this on any cancer pages that i can find so was hoping someone on here may have had the same thing xx
hi, strange, because I still have a lump of fluid ...painless ...just below armpit...painless just annoying and I asked BCN just other day ...telephone appt..as my lumpectomy surgery was back in November last year..she said it can take a long time to get absorbed ...as long as not painful or inflamed, to leave it to do its thing! nothing about removing it and didn't feel she needed to see me at all about it, telephone appt. it just feel weird and I would quite like it gone! sorry you are looking at another op hope that's the last of it x
