Do any of you waiting or going through chemotherapy, find you are quite anxious in the mornings.    I’m finding first thing that I feel like I have a anxiety stomach, feeling a bit nausea,   but as soon as I have a peppermint gum the feeling goes away.    I think knowing I’m going to start my chemotherapy any day in next three weeks, it’s playing on my anxiety.

  • I think this is very normal. You've got this big chunk of treatment that you're about to start, and you can only try to imagine what it will be like. Once you start chemo and some of the side effects begin to kick in, in some ways that can be mentally a lot easier to manage because at least then you will know what you are dealing with. Before you start, it's all just a big question. I'm not surprised you feel anxious! That's a good tip re. the peppermint gum - I must remember that in future.

I found once I got going with chemo I did feel calmer because I sort of had a task and a purpose: my job was to get through chemo and look after myself while it was going on.

Cancer treatment is a rollercoaster of feelings. I do hope you'll feel less anxious once you get started.

  • Exactly how I am i was due to start chemo this week but think it will now be next week due to positive pcr.  Its a nightmare lactoralflows negative and still negative so I was really upset.

I haven't been anywhere except to the hospital for kidney check and bloods.

I am hardly sleeping and when I get up I run to the toliet to be sick although I'm not zctuslly sick.

I get up and make myself eat something small.  Some days I can shift the anxiety but today I feel on edge.

It’s the unknown obviously and hearing how some people have suffered and some very few effects, that make us nervous. It would not be natural to feel some anxiety but you appear to be dealing with it well. Keep busy and occupied to help time pass. X
