Hi,
I completed 6 rounds on EC August 2021. I was very upset when my Onco score suggested Chemo.
I cold capped for all sessions. It definitely helped save my hair. It was very thin by the end but regrowth had already started after the 4th session and within 3 months I had enough hair for a pixie cut. I had bought wigs in preparation but didn't need to use them at all.
The cold xap isn't pleasant for the first 10 mins but the nurse stayed talking to me to keep my mind of it. After that it's not too bad. It got more uncomfortable by the 5th session as my hair was thinner and I got worked up about doing the 6th session.
I was lucky enough to see an advanced nurse practitioner for my blood tests before the 6th session. She recommended taking a sedatuve for the 6th session. What a dream it made the 6th session so easy. Didn't know I had the cap on.
She said sedatives aren't offered routinely but you can ask for one. It makes cold capping a different experience.
Another tip I got was to have my eyebrows digitally tattooed before starting chemo. That made such a difference too.
Hope that helps you get through it.
