Got ct results which showed inflammation in lungs . Doc stopped kadcyla for now till they figure if is late radiotherapy effects or kadcyla or flare up of inflammatory arthritis . So I just wanted to ask if anyone had to stop kadcyla and doing well I’ve had 9 out of 14 so maybe it’s just as effective
Hi I haven’t had to stop, I am at cycle 7 of 14 post chemo and surgery. I spoke with my oncologist regarding this as I just wanted to understand if I had to stop should I be concerned, I don’t have any reason to stop yet but I had to stop paclitaxal at no 9 of 12.
he told me that there were some studies showing that results after 6 months were just as good as 12 months post surgery and advised me not to be overly concerned. He said that the guidance changes are slower than the trials and updates hence for now it’s still -8 cycles in total. I hope this helps a bit xx
Aw thanks ..just couldn’t find info on this at all . I’d say 9 is good as well. 14 is probably the super cautious number. Anyway if inflammation from the kadcyla have no choice but im quite ok if have to stop as I told a friend at this stage between all the chemos and drugs I won’t need Botox I’m so well preserved lol and my body needs a break from it all and the stats are 88 percent for disease free survival over three years so I think I’m in a good place for a while so not complaining … my Hubble and kids do that for me lol the cat is only one who never complains xxxx
Am due back on 28 th so am going to ask if stopping had any impact at this point if I get answer which for me always evasive answer lol I’ll let ye know xxx
It is a long haul I can imagine - I am due to start in July after my radiotherapy. Have you tolerated it ok. Have to say I am not looking forward to it but needs must and the science says it is the best thing for people in our position. We will see how it goes. Did you have a cannula each time and how have the SE been please? Wishing you all the best
Hi Camino
at the start I couldn’t bear thinking of the 14 treatments after all my other stuff but now I can’t believe I’m getting my 12th on Wednesday. I would say yes you can tolerate it. My experience was first few I was just tired. Took a dip on the 10th one that’s all and that was just exhaustion.
I have been given all my infusions including the first round of chemos away back, through the cannula. I put my hand in basin hot water as nurse prepares the equipment etc so my veins are big and juicy haha.
my only annoying side effect every time is I go home very cold so I usually jump into bed for couple hours.
just go for it, all of a sudden you will be like omg I’m back for my next one so soon xx
Hi Hmfm - that sounds reassuring - well done for getting to the 12th already. I have got my head around it now I think and am just extremely thankful to have the opportunity for the medication and the science which will hopefully help in the future. All the best to you and thank you
