Hi all not sure if I’m posting this correctly I’ve had 3 rounds of ec and managed ok.
had first of 3 Docetaxel last Tuesday felt fine started filigram injections on the Thursday and wham!!
I was expecting the pain but have had horrendous heartburn trapped wind constipation diarrhoea I feel really lethargic but am not getting much sleep at all and feel like I’ve got a film of gauze in my mouth. I’ve been using paracetamol gaviscon and Imodium. Can anyone give me any top tips and roughly how long do you feel crap for ?
hi, weirdly, I had my last and 4th ÈC 2 weeks ago and due first of docetaxal next Wednesday, like you I am expecting joint pain, taste issues, fatigue , but this week I seem to be having all these issues including massive and sore mouth ulcers! makes me wonder if actually these are also side effects of cumulative bouts of EC whereas we all think its due to docetaxal? just a thought. mouth issues are horrible, sandpapery..also have diarrhoea and constipation and heartburn. not much fun is it? I also have 4 dx to look forward to, most people seem to have 3. I will watch out for the replies to your post so I can be pepared too. x
Hi , and sorry to hear you are suffering. I too have found it to be much worse than EC .had my first Docetaxol 11days ago and started with bad body pains (especially lower back ) from day 3 . Really bad acid , thick white coated tongue and saliva that felt more like glupe . I now have sore painful heels (apparently another side effect so they are reducing my next 2doses.
It really is awful isn’t it . I had gaviscon to start due to the acid but am now taking Lansoprazole . I have only today started feeling a little bit better but I hope you recover quicker than I have .
I took 2 cocodamols at night to ease the pains and I found they helped me sleep. Sending big hugs to you cos it really is bloody awful .
Hi, I’ve only just had my second EC and asked for a tablet form as the acid from the first dose was really bad they gave me lansoprasole so hoping it works. Hope the acid doesn’t get worse after the docetaxol though which I’ll start in 6 weeks. I thought the EC sid3 effects wasn’t nice but it’s looking even worse after having docetaxol.
I wish you ladies well hope your symptoms lesson so as to be more manageable, take care.
love & hugs

Hi, I had really bad heartburn and indigestion with Docetaxel and was prescribed Omeprazole, which I took once a day and then upped to twice a day around each chemo. That might be worth asking about. Good luck
Hi, also ask about taking Loratidine (an odd use of an antihistamine, but it can help) from the day before you start the injections and continue a daily tablet till after the injections stop. The USA use this conjunction a lot with lymphoma patients and it seems to help a lot with the bone pain.

Hi tbh they warned me the Docetaxel would be more aggressive than ec I spoke to my chemo team yesterday so I’m loaded up with paracetamol gaviscon Imodium and ondanestron (left over from ec ) which definitely helped last night
hope all goes well with your next ec and hopefully your symptoms won’t be too bad with your Docetaxel xxx
Hi ive just completed all my chemo, last docetaxel last Friday. I've had 3 sessions altogether, the 1st hit me like a bus from day 4. Flu like pains in upper back, sharp leg pains - codeine and paracetamol helped with these. Severe thrush in mouth and lost all taste, then really painful ulcers to the point where all food had to be mushy. Used difflam mouthwash which eased it and a really soft baby toothbrush. Swear by lansoprazole for the acid and heartburn, take it before it starts that really helps. Have plenty of laxatives for the constipation. I think the secret is to be prepared with all medications. I found the 2nd session of docetaxel didn't hit me as bad as the first but my oncologist did mention that this might happen. Everyone's body is different in what side effects they get and cope with. I'm finding complete rest, dosing up on medication, and just trying to get through each day for the 1st week until im feeling bit more normal and energy levels and my body starts to repair itself.
Good luck in future treatments and I hope your next sessions aren't too bad for you xx
