Is 7 cycles quite alot for adjuvant chemotherapy after lumpsectomy?
I was aiming to get through at least 4 cycles.
Had one EC ,got 2 more of that, then got weekly X3 of pax ( a cycle ) , 4 times.
Would 4 cycles be enough, ?
I was stage 1, - its IDC's grade 3, hormone receptive, Hertz 2 negative, had the surgery in Jan
Hi Etna. In my experience, it depends on the type of chemo and on the patient's tolerance. I have had 28 (twenty eight) treatments of one type of chemo, and was starting to feel I was getting to the end of my tolerance. They then switched me to another type of chemo with the plan being for four treatments. I was able to take the first two treatments of the new chemo at full dose, one more treatment at a reduced dose, but never got the fourth one as the balance had tipped and it was no longer advised as it was causing more actual harm than the potential benefit I could possibly get out of it.
Of the two types of chemo you have specified, I would say EC is the harsher one so once you get through that, the other one will likely be easier.
How are you doing in general these days?
Hey, I'm no longer testing postive for covid , negative day 6/7, still got tiredness , nasal congestion.
Got my chemo next week,
Still recovering from having my hair shaved off, slowly getting used to it but going to have to go fully bald think soon as hair is still falling out.
Got my bandana from Etsy which is really nice, been referred for a wig so should get a call next week.
Things are moving forward, but I'd rather just go back to my life before cancer , but I had stil anyway for years just didn't know I did, so I guess if I ignored it prob be worse situation.
Got therapy next week to .
Thanks x
Thanks for the update, good to hear you are no longer covid positive!
On the hair, I am still pretty much hairless and cannot wait for the better weather. Too cold and cloudy to go out without a hat yet, but this year I want a sun tan on my head! I mean, as long as it's bald, may as well make the most of it.
