Hello
I had bc surgery (lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node removal) on Thursday afternoon. Ther surgery went well and my wounds were clean and healing well. I felt pretty tired but in the to be expected way.
Then in the early hours of this morning, about 3 a.m., I noticed a hard swelling at the top of my operated breast. It gradually got more painful so I woke my husband (poor him!) and we sent off to hospital.
Once there, I was diagnosed with a hematoma and it was drained by two medical student surgeons and then I was moved into observation - where I stayed for 7 hours! Eventually, some other student surgeons came, took photos of my swollen boob/normal boob to compare and sent it to my surgeon (who operated on me on Thursday). They then warpped a v tight compression bandage around both boobs, told me not to take the anti coagulant injection today and sent me home with an appt to see my surgeon at 8.30 tomorrow morning.
So my question is what can I expect in my appt tomorrow morning, in terms of treatment for the hematoma? I´m exhausted after being in hospital all day and kept fasting in case they had to do a procedure, and am feeling battered physically and emotionally so any reassurance or knowledge you can give me would be very welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Doria xx
So sorry, Doria, what an experience. I really hope tomorrow gives you reassurance and some positive help. I guess I was lucky in that I got whisked back to theatre 30 hours after my mx with implant as yes, I too bled badly and they even had to re-do the implant. But once that was done I recovered ok.
really hope tomorrow goes well, please do post to let us know.
Hugs xxx

Thank you both for your replies, much appreciated.
When I arrived to outpatients this morning, we were 10 mins late due to traffic and my surgeon had left to do operations Luckily, a nurse who works closely with him phoned him and although he couldn´t come back, she was able to take a look at how I was doing.
The hematoma is a lot less swollen and she changed the bandage, cleaned my wounds and I have to go back again tomorrow morning to see the surgeon who will be there for longer as he has consultancies tomorrow. So it´s still ongoing...
I think he will just want to check that everything's OK. I had haematoma. Kept fainting, the Nurses kept saying all OK, but I had breast skin like a leopard. Went back for emergency op as when Surgeon saw it she looked shocked. She had to clean all the blood out and re do implant. Ultrasound is good for spotting problems, nurses weren't checking that at all.
