I'm on daily Letrozole, and Herceptin injections every 3 weeks until August this year. Amongst other delights, I've had fatigue and joint pain/swelling, especially my hands, which seemed to be getting worse. I know Herceptin is cumulative.
Then my husband got Covid and my Herceptin injection has had to be postponed for 2 weeks. It should have been a week ago today and for the past 4 days my hands have been so much less painful. It's been a blessed relief. But I am feeling quite unwell and utterly exhausted. I've tested negative all along so it isn't Covid - the symptoms aren't right in any case.
It made me wonder whether there is such a thing as withdrawal symptoms from Herceptin. I've Googled and nothing comes up, but the real experts are here so I thought I'd ask.
Hi, I've not come across this, but I have my final Herceptin injection next week. I've not had any side effects from the injections. My hands and joints can get a bit stiff from time to time, but I think that's the Letrozole. It's challenging to know what drug is causing what side effect sometimes. I hope your symptoms continue to improve,
You've been very fortunate not to have any side effects. I hope that continues for you. Yes it is difficult to know what's causing what, isn't it? Congratulations on being almost at the end of the injections!
I'm still feeling quite rubbish. Headache, slightly nauseated, shattered, normal temperature. I'll wait and see what develops. Thank you!
Just updating for anyone who might find this helpful.
I've now been over 5 weeks without Herceptin (my next injection is on Monday) and my hand joints are feeling so much better. I can get my rings on again for the first time in months. My muscles still get very stiff though, so I'm guessing that must be caused by the Letrozole.
I had a headache for 3 days in the end. I'm no longer feeling unwell now, but I'm still fatigued and have a mouth full of ulcers. Still testing negative for Covid.
