Apparently I have mild lymphodema, and I was told to buy a sports bra which supports the under arm area. I have tried on all the sports bras I could find in my size (including non post surgery ones) but they are all too low. I've tried M&S, John Lewis, Primark, Uniqlo TKmaxx, Selfridges (none to be seen there!). I have a long body and wide rib cage so I'm a 40C, but found with M&S their sizing was over the place, with the band on a 42B smaller than the 40 or 38! George aren't supportive enough though I have lived in their post surgery bras, so they're out too.
Can anyone suggest where I could look, with the importance being they come up the side near the armpit? Help!
Hi Londonmumof2, have you tried any of the Sloggi brand bras? I bought a few as they are fairly high sided but pull on, found them good for my underarm scar after SNB. I still wear one at night.

Thanks moomy, is there any support with them, as I was told a sports bra to put some pressure and stop any swelling, collection of lymph fluid. She also suggested I wear my proper fake boob:( I've lived in post surgery bras with a bean a boob for the last 2 years!
I know you said you tried M & S but I just bought a new one today. Total support is how they are branded. In a white box. I bought a cotton one which is smooth as the one I have which is same brand has seams and is shiny fabric which hurt my boob. I too have swelling which is predominantly armpit and back of armpit area. I just don't seem to get comfy. I also have M&S sleep vests. There is support in the bra. I also have 2 "posher and costlier" ones as I have a bra shop near me. I was fitted for these. They are comfy but by 4pm ish having had them on since about 8 or 9am my boob is hard and I need a vest on for comfort. I hope you find something x
Not a huge amount of support but I do find them comfy.
Hope you find something right for you

Hi Londonmumof2I also have mild lymphoedema in the breast. My lymphoedema nurse advised me to get supportive sports bras. I thought the bras I was wearing were supportive but she said I really needed a sports bra. I tried a few from M&S but I couldn’t get any to fit well enough. Then I went to Bravissimo. They do not measure you there just look at what you are already wearing and the size, then go off to get some for you to try on. I told them upfront that I needed a very supportive sports bra so that was the only ones they brought for me to try. I have bought 2 different ones, both of which are comfortable enough to wear. I am not able to do them up at the back as they are so snug fitting, I have to tie them up at the front, swivel them around and wrestle my arms into them. Once I am in, they are fine.
The nurse, as well as updating my lymphatic massage technique, suggested I try “pfluffing”. Apparently it is good for the breasts. You can Google it and get a website up. I don’t always remember to do this part.
I hope you have success in finding a good bra that fits you well as I know how uncomfortable the lymphoedema can be.
All the best
Alison
Thanks Alison,
I never thought of them, despite buying my older daughter a sports bra from them as she was 32G. Is there a link to the ones you thought were comfy?
Margaret
Just realised they're from a D cup ans I'm a C ....:(
One of the bras was the Freya. I can’t remember the other one (I am wearing it so cannot check) but it has a racer back. Both of them are non wired. I am sorry I am not very good at links when using the tablet. I was also wearing a C, sometimes B, cup but both bras are FF cup!! I think this is where they are more supportive as the whole boob is enclosed. If you have a Bravissimo near you, might still be worth a try.

Thanks, there's one at Oxford Circus and one in Covent Garden so I might go tomorrow. X
Hi, I have this one from M&S and it is pretty high on the under arm area (covers my SNL scar) although you may have tried it already https://www.marksandspencer.com/extra-high-impact-non-wired-sports-bra-a-e/p/clp60483515 Also have their sleep bras, but not so supportive and lower in the under arm area.
