Feeling so tired, exhausted. Has been 6 weeks since my lumpectomy. Didn’t expect to feel this fatigue until after the radiotherapy (starts next week). Has anyone else experienced this and how did you cope please ?
Hi Rose , I haven’t had the same treatment as you but I think it is pretty normal to be so tired . I have been exhausted since all this began . I know some of it was the chemo . However I have been really tired since my surgery just over 5 weeks ago . If sleeping was an Olympic sport I would win gold . Hope things improve for you soon xxx
Hi @harleybear
thanks for replying. Glad to hear it’s normal. If I’m this tired now goodness knows what I’ll be after the radiotherapy this week.
best wishes for your ongoing journey x
I had a lumpectomy in August, did feel pretty tired for a few weeks afterwards. I finished chemo 4 weeks ago (now that is the worst tiredness I've ever felt) just got 2 more radiotherapy sessions tomorrow and Tuesday and then I'm finished. Can't say that the radiotherapy has made me tired yet.
I am taking, in liquid form, some multivitamins/multiminerals. I cleared this in advance with my oncologist. While fatigue and tiredness may not necessarily be related to vitamins and minerals, I figured that at a low dose I will not be overdoing it, and whatever boost I can get from it would only help.
I also asked oncology if I was allowed to try any complementary method. They banned acupuncture but says yes to reflexology. In the end I didn't do any of it, but again the idea was that if I was certain something would not be harmful then it could be worth trying in case it did prove beneficial, and always cleared in advance with oncology.
Other than that, I try to stay well hydrated and to eat as well as I can manage, I do my exercises and keep hoping that every small thing may contribute a little towards regaining the wellbeing feeling. Also, I allow myself to sleep when I feel the need.
