Hi, I wonder is there anyone who can give me some advice for a dear friend. As I was being diagnosed with BC a very dear 92 year old lady whom I visit from church was also diagnosed - we were a day apart with all initial investigations and surgery. Her initial GP visit in April 21 was presenting pain which was diagnosed as shingles. During this appointment she also mentioned she had felt a breast lump. GP examined her and referred her to breast consultant - end story lumps in both breasts - lumpectomies and 5 radiotherapy was to be treatment. However after surgery on one breast not enough of a clear margin so had to have a mastectomy and all nodes removed. Other breast was successful lumpectomy. Poor dear then developed lymphoedema. Has dealt with all this like a real trooper but is still suffering so badly with the shingle pain and feels she’s not getting much help. She’s also on letrozole for 5 years which she finds quite amusing - says she’ll be 97 by then and possibly underground.
This lady does the most amazing craft work - dolls houses and she makes all the minute pieces of furniture; embroidery, marquetry pictures - the list goes on.
On a visit yesterday I found her ‘down’ for the very first time and all due to the shingle pain as she can’t sit or lie down for any length of time.
PLEASE is there anybody on here that has been unfortunate enough to also suffer from shingles along with suffering BC that can give me any pointers that may give her some relief?
