I had a BIG shock 2 days ago most of my hair came out in the shower!!!! Just had my first wig consultation this morning, to be honest I’m not sure at all.....,,,,..
Hello and welcome to the club no one wanted to join. As you currently going through chemo you might find it useful to join the Chemo Thread
Hi Kitty
loveky to meet you, only sorry it’s through this forum. I lost most of my hair at day 16 and just cut it all off with the kitchen shears wasn’t the best look but I felt better that it wasn’t falling out. I got a wig and I wore it once, it just wasn’t for me. I ended up wearing beanie hats wheb out and about and just went bald at work and at home, I also got quite hot during chemo so being bald helped to regulate my temperature. I think do wfat kajes you comfortable, people very quickly get used to the “new you” I wasn’t brave enough to go out in public without a hat as a I worried that everyone would be looking but at work I felt really comfortable and I grateful to my friends and colleagues for that x
good luck with the chemo, it will go faster than you think and I hope your side effects are minimal xx
hi I was diagnosed Nov 24th and have had lumpectomy and full node clearence as the cancer had spread to 5 out of 11...had 2nd chemo last wed...not as horrendous as I had imagined. how many cycles are you having and of what..,I'm down for 4 x EC then 4 x Docetaxal but I may ask to change to a weaker dose . for me, I like my wig but feels too much like a hat so wear for special dates eg eating out but at home it's scarves and fringe wigs for walking dog. I hate being bald and I do get down about it which is silly really in the scheme of things. you will get sooo much support and ideas and empathy on here the forum is amazing and in time you can reassure newbies x
Hi

Hi Kitty,
Welcome although sorry that you´re in this situation. No-one wants to be part of this club yet it is a very supportive forum with lots of helpful advice.
I was diagnosed mid Sept and started chemo 1st October. My hair started falling out the day after my 2nd session (I was on Taxol/Carboplatin) and yes, it is a horrible, unsettling feeling. I ordered a wig from Amazon for 20 quid believe it or not! I´ll attach a photo of me wearing it tomorrow (my phone´s dead and the photos are on there) so you can see what you think. A hairdresser friend came over and helped trim and shape it to my face which helped to make it look more natural.
But I usually wear turbans/hats as they´re more comfortable for everyday use but it all comes down to personal preference really. Again I ordered these from Amazon. Ask away if there´s anything else we can help with. X
Hi Kitty, I’m quite new here too. I find it a great support and for getting things out that sometimes family and friends don’t get. Also for advice and asking questions as well as getting things off our chest! I do have to have breaks from the forum too though as I get overwhelmed and need a break from thinking and talking about BC!
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
