Got my results today, 23 right in the middle,so intermediate risk it comes back or might not
so as I'm under 50 advisory got to have chemo.
My choice to go ahead with it , tho I stil have a week think.
Already said no to picc like , and ports as I'm not risking getting blood clots as family history of DVT.
So be canula I opted for or I guess whatever else they got ,
No idea why I'm agree to put my body through it but I think it's got to do with that my lump that had cancer cells also had pre cancer cells in it ,altho they were sure all tissue was taken out, they never saw pre cancer cells in the scans so how do I know I dont have pre cancer cells else where, I randomly just got cancer.
Thanks
Yeah like a course of 4 &3 rounds ,she said today be 21 weeks, but it's already been discussed if I can't cope I can just stop , they may change it as I go along, I've got all the forms today , I'm speaking to oncologist next week to confirm anything and ask any questions.
I'm mid-40s and had chemo before surgery and I was really glad they gave me chemo. My surgeon said they were going to hit me with everything to increase my chances of it not coming back and living for decades to come.
I didn't need a PICC line, cannula was fine. Make sure you are well hydrated the day before and the day of chemo as it makes your veins nice and big.
Chemo is tough but doable and I'm glad I had all possible treatment. I'm now on hormone therapy for 5 years and opted to go through a sudden medical menopause plus exemestane as that has a better chance of the cancer not returning than tamoxifen for someone my age and pre-menopausal. So I have gone through the menopause to add to everything else, but still worth it! The alternative is far worse.
Etna , I refused picc too had a cannula and got a small blood clot in my arm they are common but superficial and not serious. So please don't worry. My score was 38 so had preventive Chemotherapy it was ok , not a walk in the park but doable. You don't know you don't have rendom cells elsewhere so have the preventive chemo. Best wishes Jayne X
