Hi  all, I had mastectomy on the 27th of January; consultant last week to say that I need chemo and radiotherapy.  She suggested I have the above test to ascertain if the chemo is actually needed.  Has anyone else had this test?  I am lucky that my work pays for private insurance so I can have it.

thank you

  • I am so sorry to hear this. Isn’t life crap at times. The worry is always that it comes back and living with that is awful and now to hear your story fills me with dread. I wish you all the best. I do know that people can live for years with mets but it’s the mental anguish of the unknown that takes over the mind xx

  • Thank you so much for your response and you’re right - it is hard to believe that the test says you don’t need chemo; 2 weeks and I’ll know.

    xx

  • I had the same test and came out with a low score, so no chemo   no radiotherapy  either as I had a mastectomy.   I've been lucky    good luck with the wait.

Hi I had an onctotype test as ticked all the right boxes. My result was 13.   My oncologist talked me through the benefit of chemo, he likes to give statistics, then said but I don’t recommend it! So I agreed not to have chemo based on test results.  It took about 2 weeks for the results to come back.  I had radiotherapy and now on hormone therapy.

  • Hi. Do you mind me asking your grade/stage and oestrogen result? Are you post menopausal and what hormone therapy are you on. Thank you x
