Hi, I had my first 2 Covid jabs (Astra Zeneca) last year whilst having chemotherapy.
In November I had a booster (Pfizer). At the time I wasn't aware that I should have 4 jabs which I think should be 3 primary doses followed by a booster.
I have now been asked by my GP surgery to have a 4th dose, but does it matter that I have already had a booster?
Is the booster a larger dose to the primary vaccs or are they all the same?
Also should the first 3 be the same, i.e. all Astra Zeneca followed by a 4th dose of Pfizer or Moderna?
Sorry for all the questions!
Thank you x
Hi Ponymad29
I Had notification of third primary end of Oct last year . I email NHS and asked the question of what is a third primary and is it different dosage for following booster (no.4)
Answer I was given was because of being CEV when I had first two jabs there was a possibility they wouldn’t give us the same protection so it was decided by the med experts a third primary was needed then back on track for booster .
It’s the same dosage for all jabs 1,2,3 and 4 also no problem in change of type I had same as you 2 x AZ then Pfizer . Some medics feel it’s better to mix I don’t know . Personally I’ll have as many as they like as long as I’m classed as Extremely vulnerable
Just waiting for email for booster
hope this answers your questions
I'm just about to have my 4th. I had thought my 3rd was my booster but they're now saying I've had 3 primary. I had my 1st shortly after chemo so may not have been that effective, so I am delighted I'm getting another.
I'm still classed as highest risk, a year in from chemo.
I also re-read Macmillan info on exemestane and it says it can reduce your immunity as it can affected your white blood cells, which I hadn't realised.
I'll keep taking everything they offer!
I don't think it makes any difference on dosage and you can mix all the different types.
Hi Northerner,
Thank you for your reply - just what I wanted to know.

Hi Beatthebreast,
Thank you for your reply.
I'm not looking forward to it as I've been ill after them previously. In fact I was more ill with the Pfizer jab which was 5 months after chemo ended than I was with the AZ ones which I had whilst on chemo.
But I can put up with it to make sure I'm better protected.
xx
Daughter has had her 4th (different cancer but she has virtually no immune system and has to self inject weekly with immunoglobulin) just yesterday. She had her third in October last year. Has had A-Z for first 2, Pfizer for the others. I ynderstood that Pfizer was the same dose for booster and/or third but Moderna was half dose of it was a booster. So far her only problem has been a sore arm.
Daughter will have antibody levels checked next weekend.
Hugs xxx

I had 4, and all Pfizer. I was specifically given Pfizer as my 4th and they sent me to a special queue and when I asked they said that it was recommended to have 3rd and 4th the same.
