Hi all

I have completed chemotherapy on 4 November and radiotherapy on 15 December. I would love to get a chemical peel for my face as well as book a few other treatments such as a manicure and massage.

Not sure if it is a good idea after chemo and if not, any suggestions as to how long I should wait before I do? I should have asked my oncologist but completely forgot!

Any advice would be welcome

Wendy

  • Hi Wendy

I really wanted a massage between chemo and surgery but any spa I contacted wouldn't give me one unless I had sign off from my oncologist. I don't see mine very often and felt bad about getting in touch just to ask but regret that now Face palm

I hope you can get your treatments booked and have a well deserved pamper!

    Cheers

    Lizzy

  • One of those questions you’ll get different answers for! But I was advised by the hospital that 6 weeks after treatment was ok for massages, manicures, etc. but thats standard manicures not extensions (not sure of the terminology but!) and treatments where infections can easily be introduced. I also booked a massage for in between chemo and surgery but the BC nurses made me cancel it. As it was within 2 weeks of my surgery date and the potential for infection was deemed too high. Can you email your BC nurses to ask? Mine are pretty good at responding to emails x

    Hi Lizzy

That is my problem too! Don't want to contact with a question like that but I think I'm going to call this coming week.

    Thank you for your reply!

That is actually a good idea. Will email them this coming week.

    Thank you for the reply

  • As far as I know, During remission, oncologists allow botulinum toxins and fillers, carry out whitening procedures, use hardware methods to improve skin condition, and engage in hair restoration. Phototherapy, vacuum (LPG), and many injection techniques are also allowed. You can find out more about this at the OnSite Med Spa or contact your oncologist. I can say for sure that peeling is undesirable now. Please get the advice of a professional since there are always features of your body and diagnosis.
