Hi
Just posting to have a moan as only those of us going through this will really know the impact.
Had surgery on 7th Dec for 8mm IDC hormone receptive.. All good no more needed and onto 5 sessions of RT and started anatrazole on boxing day.
Had my RT planning scan on 17th Jan and given dates for RT starting 1st Feb. Yesterday ( my birthday!!) trotted off for my PCR in the afternoon after a nice lunch to get home to a 5pm call to say that the RT couldn't start on 1st as they were not going to complete all the planning steps in time due to staffing and that someone from planning will ring me on Monday
To say I was gutted was an understatement. I had been in really good place for a couple of weeks and although not looking forward to it, had got my head round having the RT. I've now been tearful on and off and am back to uncertainty and waiting. Id sorted work out and now may have to replan everything
I know it can't be helped but really wished the call hadn't been so close to it starting.
Anyway moan over !
Xx
So sorry to hear your RT has been postponed. It is quite understandable to want to rant and what better place to do it than on this forum!
The waiting and build up to RT is bad enough so be delayed is just prolonging your agony.
Hopefully they will fit you in very soon!
So frustrating. Mine was delayed as my seroma was too big and I agree that the replanning is a nightmare. Hope you get sorted soo
Thank you ladies for your support and understanding. It is only when you have trodden this path that you fully understand the full impact of these setbacks I think. I'm feeling a more upbeat today having had a bit of a cry yesterday and generally feeling sorry for myself
Fingers crossed I get some clarity ( and new dates!) on Monday
Much love xx
Hi, I’m sorry your RT got delayed, one of our biggest fears getting our heads in the right place for there to then be unexpected delays. Glad to hear you’re feeling a bit more upbeat today and I hope you get good news about starting again very soon tomorrow.
I have my first oncologist apt booked for RT and I guess hormone therapy on 14/02 and so I’m expecting it will be a number of weeks before I actually start treatment. Very nerve racking.
Sorry for my ignorance, but do you need a PCR test before your first session then?
Mickey xx️
Hi Micky
Thanks Micky
Yes I had a PCR on the Friday which made the phone call when I got back even more frustrating! That PCR is negative as its just popped up in my NHS app so that won't delay it further at least !
My radiology consent appointment (which was also my first oncology appointment although only dealt with the RT consent as I had already started on Anastrozole after my results appointment) was a couple of weeks after my results appointment then the RT planning scan was a couple of weeks after that so hope that helps re possible timeline
Much love xx
Jurassicgirl - What a let down! Fingers crossed that someone calls you back tomorrow and you don't have to wait too long for a new appointment. x
Hi Mickey - I saw an oncologist on 21st Jan and my planning meeting is on 10th Feb, a month after my surgery. I've been given lots of info to read but have not been asked to have a PCR test so it probably varies from hospital to hospital. I've twice been told not to get pregnant during the planning & RT and having felt grotty since chemo was quite pleased that anyone thought I looked young enough to get pregnant!
At the oncology meeting I was checked over to see how I'm healing from the surgery and signed a consent form. I'll be having 5 standard and 5 boosts but I've had some conflicting advice about the hormone therapy as I was previously told I could start Letrozole prior to radiotherapy but at the last meeting with a different oncologist I was given a prescription but told not to start taking it until after radiotherapy. However during a T/C with a different oncologist last week I was told that I can start taking the Letrozole now but not really given a definitive answer about what I should do. It gets confusing when you get seen by lots of different people.......
Thank you, that really helpful and keeping everything crossed for you. Love Mickey xx
Hi LaLaLou, Lovely to hear from you and thanks for the useful info. I’m pleased it brightened your day that they referenced you not getting pregnant. I think I would burst laughing if they said that to me. Good to laugh though for sure.
Have you had a CT scan or is that done at the Same time as the planning meeting? I guess like you say all hospitals do these things differently, but it’s always good to have a rough idea.
Please let me know what is decided about your letrozole too - I’ll let you know also.
How are you healing now post op and have you had your results yet? I only got mine (sort of) last week, so still getting my head around the addition of radiotherapy.
Love Mickey xx
