Hi,
I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in August 2021. I have been taking a daily drug that doesn't allow the cancer to feed. (hopefully), and tomorrow I have surgery. I recently underwent open heart surgery which due to complications left me in a coma, and doubts my confidence in anesthesia and surgery itself.
It is not yet clear if I am well enough for radiotherapy.
My hair is thinning and falling out, and in spite of hats and wigs I still look rediculus.
Can anyone tell me who I should approach for a cancer wig please? I understand they are fitted and cut to a style of my choice?
Thank you for your help
Sorry! I intended to respond and then the site went down. I used Raoul wigs, recommended by Wycombe hospital https://www.raoulwigmakers.co.uk/ they were excellent, my consultation had to be remote because of covid (we didn’t know at that stage it would be fine if we BYOB and had cheese) but I really like my wig. You can take it to your hairdressers to get it cut further x
Hi, I was referred by my nurses in the macmillan unit where I am having my treatment. I received an appointment through the post to see a lovely women who brought a selection of wigs to the unit for me to try on based on photographs that I had emailed before my appointment. The wig is synthetic and a lot better than I thought it would be given that it didn’t cost me anything. I’ve had my 3rd chemo today and I’m using the cold cap. I haven’t suffered any hair loss yet but I’m prepared for it happening.
I hope you get sorted and all the best for your treatment xx
I’ve bought a wig, and online
gave I wore it/ them - no?
what I have wore is a fringe/ bangs piece I ordered from the US
i wear it with various scarves/ turbans/ caps, so it looks like I have hair under a cap . It only itches a little, and I m happier with it
it was $30 with DHL shipping as much - see my photo here
Godiva secret wigs , it’s enough for mei still have wisps of hair at the side and back
good luck , I was more worried about my eyebrows and lashes-?still got both after 2 chemo sessions, but having a practice at stencilling eyebrows in case they go after next
