Can anyone tell me if they had a high oncotype score mine was 60 I am petrified my cancer will reoccur

i wish they never told me the results that’s upset me more than the breast cancer itself

  • Hi

I had Oncotype Testing. Mine was low.  It’s a likelihood of recurrence, which allows your clinicians to tailor your treatment accordingly. They will be able to do the right treatment - chemo etc.  My oncologist had already discussed chemo, which I was going ahead with, when my results were found. We didn’t know the tests had been done.  Once theses were available, my plan changed as she said chemo would do more harm than good. Your test will allow them to decide which chemo and other treatment to use to keep you well.

  • Hi Nicky69

I didn't have an oncotype done cause I had alot of lymph nodes affected so chemo was a given anyway, yes the thought of reoccurrence is never far away but something I am learning to live with, 2 years done the line.

    Hi Nicky

Try not to worry , remember that oncotype is new about two years so before that nobody had any idea if their cancer would return. Futhermore, its not as I understand a percentage. if your oncotype score was 24 or less you would not be offered chemotherapy at all! So yours and mine are "high " so to  counteract that we were offered Chemotherapy , possibly radiotherapy , estrogen blockers and Zol acid so we have a lot that will help us to not have a reocurrance.  And we have a cancer that can be a little easier to treat. So try not to worry your Chemotherapy sessions will have brought that risk way down .  Push now for regular screening.  And then forget about it and get on with life
