Evening

after being diagnosed with papillary breast cancer about 10 days ago, and then HER2 positive a few days after that, I am now waiting for a CT scan to see if it’s spread.

I am trying so hard to be positive about it all, and my treatment plan will be confined on the 29th December. I’ll have chemo, the surgery, then radiotherapy and then hormone pills for 5 to 10 years. I’m oddly calm about all this but am freaking out about the CT scan.  I’m utterly convinced that the cancer will have spread, and that it will be everywhere and there’ll be nothing they can do!

I hear myself say that things come in threes and that the scan will be the third diagnosis.

  • Hi  sorry to hear of your diagnosis.  I get what you mean about the CT scan, that completely freaked me out in the same circumstances.  I felt a lot calmer having spoken to a friend who is a radiologist snd he reminded me that spread is not very common and my reason for CT scan was routine. Personally it was great to have his calming rationale and my oncologist was similarly reassuring and I was fortunate in that my cancer was contained. I blogged about my experience, the link in Here in case you are interested.

I hope you can get your scan quickly and get the reassurance you need to start treatment. Best wishes x

Hi , thank you so so much for replying.  Your words have really calmed me down about my CT on Wednesday.  Thank you too for the link to your blog.  When I have finished work today, I will sit down and have a proper read of it all.

    xx
