I’m stressing out, I’m due to go into hospital on Tuesday for a mastectomy and DIEP reconstruction, but I’ve come down with a cold, my covid test is negative so that’s a plus, but I’m stressing that they won’t operate because of my cold. The stress is making it hard to sleep, my acid reflux is acting up because of the stress, so the pain from that is keeping me awake as well.
It’s a vicious cycle that I can’t seem to get out of, I’m going to phone the pre op team on Monday to see what they say about my cough and cold, but if they say no to the surgery I’m not sure how I’ll cope, the last month has been stressful for many reasons and this surgery was an end point to cling to and a step towards getting my life back.
Sorry for the long rant I just needed to vent.
Hi Catndog I can imagine how you feel. The surgery date is end point we aim for and having the goalpost moved on you is not great. Hopefully if they do need to postpone it won't be for long.
It's Saturday today so you could recover from your cold by Tuesday. Try to eat well, drink plenty of water and get lots of rest. I know you are having trouble sleeping but try to rest as much as you can even if you are still awake.
