Hi shaz T
i had a mastectomy in febuary this year and reconstuction at the same time i opted for the diep surgery and can say it went well and looks good , yes you have a big scar on your tummy below bikini line but that will fade as for my new boob that looks amazing had the nipple done and tattooing looks normal . After surgery the hardest bit for me was the cough from the anesetic backache from laying flat for so long then bent forward due to tummy feeling very tight after surgery but everyday you get better and straighter. honey and lemon for cough constantley heat pads or hot water bottle for back. my daughter stayed with me for a week so i could get out and walk daily just a few steps. when i look back i felt like i had been hit by a bus but 9 months later i joined a gym do classes and lots of swimmimg,i hope you find this helpful i wish i had joined on this website before my operation
have a good xmas
Wow! Thankyou Huntsmoor
this is very encouraging Thankyou so much
its good to hear it’s worth it
Whats diep? I am guessing it’s a type reconstruction.. from what I have been reading
there 3 types .. silicone…. Temporary & permanent
and own tissue
I am getting inclined to using my own tissue and skin
Hi Shaz T I had a double Mastectomy with immediate reconstruction in July 2017, I chose implants . I would really recommend a reclining chair for sleeping in, you do not have any upper body strength to push yourself up with and a v pillow really helps too. I had yearly checks and in 2019 i had some heart shaped nipples tattoo on that made such a difference to me when looking in a mirror, i know it sound silly but i really missed my nipples. I love to go on holidays abroad and wear a bikini and people are shocked if i tell them i have had a double mastectomy. i hope i have helped you with life after surgery. i wish you the best of luck with your choice of reconstruction. Have a good Christmas.
I had a bilateral mastectomy in August it was much easier than the chemo I just finished. It's a walk in the park compared . It takes about 8 hours don't go home until you feel ready not much pain . I didn't want reconstruction so you may need a little more recovery time than me and surgery may take a little longer . But nothing to be worried about .
Take care Jayne
I used my own skin from my tummy 2 for the price of 1 lol tummy tuck . yes it felt tight but manageable I had op on Wednesday out on Friday much to my daughters shock. Getting up and moving about best thing to do . yes your feel shattered rest when you can do the exercises they help . if you need anymore support let me know
Thankyou so much everyone
already learning and I like the sound of the operation being easier than chemo… chemo is downer indeed anything better than it is very welcome
Also liking your satisfaction results
cough backache and remedies for this
walking and exercise as soon as possible even a few steps
recliner chair and V shaped pillows
all taken note … I am sure I will have more to ask through the journey
Thankyou once Again and compliments of the season
I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago, stage 1 Grade 3. I have COPD and Asthma also sleep apnea so the anaesthetist erred on the edge of caution & so I took Letrozole. In 3 months had shrunk from.17mm to 9mm & 5 months later i wasn't found on the scan.
Bringing forward a year still nothing found on scan but a strange pain under my armpit that basically ive ignored as its intermittent & thought it may be my back pack that I use to.carry my shopping up the stairs.
My respiratory condition is so erratic & unpredictable I've been unable to have the Lumpectomy
.
