I'm interested to hear what advise anyone has been given about having their covid booster following chemo. I was told I could have mine but I'm concerned and aware white blood count can be low for up to 6 weeks after chemo. I'm now having radiotherapy until the middle of January and don't want any side effects of the booster to impact treatment. Any thoughts?

Thanks

  • Hi had my booster about 3wks ago .. currently having chemo (due to have my 5th cycle Monday) .. no issues other than a sore arm .. oncologist team recommended to have booster as soon as it was offered ..

  • I checked with my oncologist and got his advice on how much of a gap to leave, as I was mid chemo and also preparing for surgery at the time my booster was due. I don't remember what he said exactly and in any case it may not be the same for everyone (differrent types of treatment) so if I were you I would ask both medical and clinical oncology, if both teams are looking after you at the moment, and go with the guidelines that are specific to you.
