Hi everyone,

We hope you don’t mind us posting here today but we wanted to share some of our festive content. You may notice quotes from this group, in our latest blog linked below:

We know that this time of year can be more difficult for many reasons. We wanted to create a place for people to share their feelings around this, get support and hopefully find some new online friends.

Any questions or comments, please feel free to add them below.

Kindest Regards,

  • I’m still in the midst of cancer treatment and suffering severe fatigue, so to be honest, I haven’t the mental or physical energy to worry about Christmas. Plus Covid and possible restrictions make it hard to plan. We’ve planned for some nice food. Other than that we’re not really planning anything.

  • I think it's important to enjoy what you can, small things and treats and a rest from work if possible!  I'm a Nurse and finished chemo back on Christmas eve 2019 so it is always a happy and reflective day even though there was other treatment to go , this felt a huge relief and milestone. Family, positivity and treats got me through treatment and just do what makes u happy.

  • Looking forward to having a more positive outlook in 2022 (been accepted for Macmillan counselling at my local hospital in the New Year)

Sending very best wishes for Christmas and the New Year to all you lovely people xx

  • I'm booked in for my mastectomy on 20 Dec so there has been no room in my head for festive thoughts this year. I'm anxious to get the surgery over with and get the cancer out. I'm hoping by Christmas Day I'll be able to enjoy a quiet Christmas lunch with family but that's it really..

  • Hi Pangles.

It is a rubbish time of year to be having breast surgery. Let others take the strain of Christmas prep. Once you've had your surgery that's a major milestone and I really hope you can relax.

By the way,, not having my glasses on, I hit the vote down button against your post. I quickly pressed up vote as I have o idea what uo/down voting means...

    Best wishes

    x

  • For the first time ever, my kids will be preparing Christmas lunch. They are all deliveroo super users, so actual cooking may be a bit of a shock. I will just stay out of the kitchen and  hope M and S save the day.

I have the results of my surgery this week, so fingers crossed  that doesn't impact Christmas.

I really hope everyone has the best Christmas.

  • Thank you Daiquiri and no worries about the vote thing, I have no dea either. Merry Christmas to you and everyone x

  • Thank you all so much for taking the time to share your responses here.

We know that this time of year can look different and certainly have more challenges for people affected by cancer.

By sharing your feelings and experiences, it can help others to feel less alone.

Wishing you all a safe and happy festive period.

    Kindest Regards,

  • Hi Pangles

Sorry to hear that you're having surgery so close to Christmas- I hope it goes well for you.

I'm having weekly chemo treatments and have my 5th one Christmas eve and the next one new years eve but I'm just grateful that it's being done - I'm saving myself for next Christmas.

All the best Christmas wishes to all of you Christmas tree - I think we all deserve a good one - we can do this Muscle

  • Thank you for your good wishes Nyna. I'm hoping to leave hospital today. Feeling battered and very sore but grateful that this step is over. Hope you're dealing with the chemo OK. Stay strong x
