I have stage 3 breast cancer in one breast. 3 weeks ago I finished chemotherapy and after New Year will have surgery and will have my breast removed. How are you living with a prosthesis made by bras. And another question. What to do during chemotherapy began and now are those heat waves that are hot and sweaty. Thank you.
Hi, I am the same, I have round 6 of chemo on the 29th Dec, I too will have a masectomy and am interested to see what replys you get! How have you coped with chemo? How has your chemo worked on the tumor so far if you dont mind me asking, x
Hi Bc21
my story is on profile I had Masectomy on July 4th 2019 eight days after diagnosis chemo etc followed . I was given a softy boob to leave the hospital with using a post surgery bra with a pocket .
within about six weeks I had an appointment with my hospitals boob lady bit like going to shoe shop except all the boxes had different boob shapes and sizes .the advice I had was to wear a white top so you can see shape with clothes on ..do not just shape without clothing on .
I can honestly say I have no problem with my prosthesis who I named Clarissa the softy wandered a bit but no such problems with Clarissa .
I have a large cup G so bra buying can be harder I use Nicola Jane online you can also buy sew in pockets into regular bras .
Everyone is different but personally I am perfectly comfortable with Clarissa
Hi! During chemotherapy, I meditated and I had many Reiki healings ,a walk in the fresh air,the forest and positive thoughts. This is what helped me get through chemotherapy more easily. And at the end of the chemotherapy course my results, scan and mammograms were good . Tumor shrunk.
Hi, my hospital gave me a soft prosthesis to start with to use straight after surgery. About 6 weeks later I had a fitting appointment for a better one. They gave me one for swimming too. (Free). A company called Amoena. They also gave me a free bra and I ordered a few more. Have also bought bras from Nicola Jane. During and immediately after radiotherapy skin very sore so been avoiding bras and prothesis as much as possible but begining to resume now. I also got a knitted knocker. ( Google it) these are brilliant. I tend to use rather than the hospital softie and using now whilst skin still rather sore. Again free on request.
As for hot flushes. Was getting those before any treatment. LOL. they paused for a while but have recommenced. But tolerable. I just go with it. Nothing I've tried resolves them. Good luck.
