I was diagnosed with Pagets disease 4 weeks ago. I originally got a date for a lumpectomy for 16th December but was lucky to get a cancellation for yesterday, 2nd December. I've been absolutely distraught by the whole thing and been living on my nerves. Yesterday finally happened. I was a blubbering mess going to theatre but before I knew it it was done and I was in recovery. I was in quite a bit of pain but was given intravenous pain relief. I also had a dose of oral morphine which I was given to take home too, along with diplofenac. It's controlling my pain really well though I'm still uncomfortable, mostly under my arm where the lymph node was removed. I wondered if there's anyone else had Pagets and can comment on the healing process? I had a grissoti flap reconstruction so I know it's going to be a longer healing time. The NHS has been absolutely amazing. I feel blessed to have had such amazing care....
I haven’t had Pagets, but I’ve had a lot of surgery recently including a breast reconstruction with implant. I can confirm that the bulk of pain I’ve had has been the lymph nodes - I was in hospital for 6 days, 5 days on morphine and diplofenac, so my pain levels have been unusually high. We’re all different though. I believe it’s the nerves rejoining which causes the pain, and nerve pain isn’t very responsive to pain relief, sadly. I have been to the point twice now where the armpit pain just seemed to go on forever, but my left side diminished after 5 weeks and is now the occasional twinge. I hope the right side will follow suite but that’s only been 3 weeks so far. Hope yours stops hurting soon.
I was diagnosed with pagets in September and had surgery October 18th to remove nipple and aerola lumpectomy as well as sentinel node biopsy. I managed the pain with paracetamol and ibrupothen for the first week. It was the lymph node biopsy that was really sore but it does pass. I had a second surgery last week to remove a bigger margin which hopefully this time will be clear. I have results on the 16th and will then be told the next stage of treatment. I also had an invasive ductal carcinoma grade 2 her2 positive and oestrogen positive. Did they find anything else with you? Pagets often seems to come with another cancer.... I wish you well on your healing process.
I was diagnosed with pagets and an underlying grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma her2 positive and oestrogen positive in September. I have had nipple and aerola removed as well as a sentinel node biopsy. The Lymph node wound was the sore one but it did pass in a couple of weeks. I managed my pain with paracetamol and ibrupothen for the first week. I had another surgery last week to remove a bigger margin as the last one was not clear. My advice would be to be gentle on yourself and sit on the sofa for a couple of weeks catching up on box sets! My BC nurse said I would heal quicker if I did this. I did and she was right. Heal well. xx
Sorry Miss D, my first comment did go through! You've got me rambling twice!
