Hi Everyone,
I am 3 weeks post-mastectomy of my left breast. I have not had results of lymph node biopsy yet but all scans and MRI have indicated there is no spread. I have bad lower back pain though and am so anxious that it means the cancer has spread. Have been to my GP and mentioned it to consultant but consultant says we must first wait for lymph node results. Has anyone had back pain? Could it be something else? I’m sending myself sick with worry.
x
Hi Pinchy
I had same - I’ve just had histology back abs there is no spread jr was “just” dcis and no more treatment
i Had a cry with the district nurse about how I was convinced I had lunch cancer or something she had a feel about and said it felt like a muscular thing - maybe from holding myself badly or maybe because I use a stick for a dodgy knee
it’s so easy to make everything into a spread But you also have to find the balance because for some people on these forums sadly that is what has happened so I appreciate how hard it is - I think we will always be waiting for the next scary call - maybe for ever ….
sending you strength x
I have had back pain at some point and it made me frown, but my oncologist confirmed that nothing was seen in that area on any of the scans. If you had a relatively recent scan that looks from about the thighs to the neck and nothing flagged then my guess is that it's unlikely to be a malignancy.
Ah. Thank you for getting back to me. I am flipping between knowing it is just my anxiety to then thinking the worst. I feel to have so many aches and pains. X
I’m also 3 weeks post mastectomy and I have an expandable implant. My backs in half, which I put down to sitting around a lot and lack of normal, healthy movement. You know inactivity is the leading cause of back pain? Plus of course they pulled us around a lot in surgery and nerves have been cut… I assumed it was to be expected but do check out with your BCN
Oh no, you didn’t did you? You googled a symptom? I once Googled “Why are my toe nails weak?” and Google told me I had secondary lung cancer! My doctor, by contrast, suggested I moisturise more DOH! No, I do not have secondary, or any other kind of lung cancer. Keep off the Google, as my Irish nurse once told me in her gorgeous brogue.
I hope your back improves once you’re well enough to move around more. I find sleeping on my back, because of the implant, is also murder on my back and I’m definitely standing a bit hunched due to armpit pains - I’ve also had surgery on the other side.
