Hello All

I finished my chemo on 2.11.21 (yay!!) and my hair has started to grow back! I am wondering if anyone could offer any advice on supplements to take or product to use that will help support my new hair growth (and to some extent speed it up (if that's possible).

I have Google searched until my eyes are sore and I've done nothing but confuse myself, so I would really appreciate advice from Smileyfrom anyone here!

Thanks everyone xxx

  • I'm not sure there's much to do to encourage growth as the chemo has to work itself out of your system, though I found eyelash serum worked well to encourage longer lashes when they eventually grew back.

It seems to be fairly common that hair growth is very slow to start with and then seems to pick up between months 3 and 4 post-chemo.

To help mine, I only washed it with water in the shower for the first few months and then when it got a bit longer, I only used conditioner to wash it - and only products that were free of SLS, parabens etc. Then when a bit longer still, I am only co-washing, which is a conditioning wash. No shampoo, but a conditioner with a tiny but of cleanser in it, Again ,all paraben, SLS free, My hair has never been in better condition.

My hair is growing in really well, lots of it like before, same colour and now growing just as fast as it did before chemo. I finished chemo in January. My hair is now about 3-4 inches long

  • Hi

Not sure there is much you can do to encourage the growth, but I resisted having mine cut but wish I had done it sooner, clearing out the fluff and different lengths. I just had a no 3 buzz cut for a few months, and then had a proper cut after about 6 months, best thing I did. This photo is pre cancer, during chemo, 6 months (bottom left) and 10 months post chemo.

Ive kept mine short and not dyed it, something I would never have done before, but I love it as it is now, so every cloud!
     Good luck
