Hi Everyone. I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node removal at the beginning of August followed by radiotherapy which finished eight weeks ago. Just recently I’ve felt some pain in my breast. Not terrible but a sort of drawing feeling. It’s around the surgery site but also I’ve felt it around my nipple. Has anyone else experienced this a while after treatment has ended? The blue dye is finally beginning to fade and the breast is a couple of shades darker than the other one but that’s normal from what I’ve read. Maybe someone couple advise. Thanks all.
Yes this is normal as I have had pain too. Side effects peaks 2-3 weeks after and my physio told me it can take up to six months for boob to get back to some normality. Keep moisturising too x
Hello,
Like you, I kept getting pains in my breast for months( years?) and in addition I was sure I could feel a lump. However, I saw my surgeon yearly so I asked him and he explained to me that whilst the surface scars heal relatively quickly, the internal tissue from which the lump was removed also has to heal and that can take years. He could feel the lump too but showed me on the mammogram it was internal scar tissue. I found this all very reassuring. I still got pain spasmodically but I didn't worry about it as I had done previously. Hopefully your pains can be explained the same but if they continue, don't be afraid to ask at your next appointment or chat with your BCN .
Take care. Love Karen
