Hi all, so I’m 3 days after 5 sessions of radiotherapy. Feeling a little bit tired but not much more than usual. Is this as tired as I will get or can it get worse as the week goes on? I’m still working at the moment and they are very supportive in that if I need to go home to rest I can.

the worst part for me at the moment is the pain in my breast. Has anyone else had pain in they’re breast after radiotherapy?

  • Hi, I didn't have any tiredness during or after radiotherapy but I have had some discomfort, tingling and occasional shooting pains, but these were not constant and didn't last long. Do you have a follow up call with the radiotherapy team? If not, maybe call your breast nurse and chat it through.  Hope it eases soon x

Thank you. I have an appointment with the oncologist coming up to discuss hormone therapy so will chat to him then x

  • Yes - I still get pain in my breast and its been just over 2 months. just shooting pains and general aches. Have been told side effects peak around 2-3 weeks after finishing and can take up to six months for breast to feel more normal although I know everyone is different. Keep slathering on the moisturiser to help x

  • It's now a fortnight since my fifth and  last day of radiation. I started feeling really tired on day 3 but the fatigue got worse after treatment ended. I had sharp shooting pains in breast which started on the way home from first session, 'sunburn' also started after first session, which I wasn't expecting.

Yesterday was 14th day since end of treatment and the sharp shooting pains were the worst I'd experienced. However, these ones were also solely on my nipple and surrounding area so it could be due to that.

At my end of treatment review I was told that these pains were due to effect on nerve endings. Today, for the first, I've had no pain. Still fatigued and breast cancer nurse told me it could last for weeks yet.

    Hope you feel better soon
