I have just started taking Latrozole as have been diagnosed with breast cancer two weeks ago.  I have to have a mastectomy on 2nd December on the right breast and my lymph nodes taken out under my right arm.  I am taking these tablets as a trial before the op to see if they reduce the size of the tumour.  After the op who knows I will have to take Latrozole but as regards to anything else I don't know.  I have been taking them for 6 days and I feel very tired and slightly dizzy.  I have read some posts and they say it depends on the make I thought they were all the same.  I am taking Accord.

  • Hi

When I started to take letrazole in July I felt jet lagged the whole time. I’ve switched to taking them at night instead of first thing and feel much better.

I can’t comment on different brands as haven’t tried them… I’ve got Sun Pharna

  • Hi,  I was diagnosed in October, due to being on blood thinners they wanted to check if these could be stopped safely to have a lumpectomy,  in the meantime they put me on Letrozole as they said this should stop any growth.  When I started I got dizzy, especially whilst lying down which was very odd but that only lasted a couple of weeks and has now stopped.  Still very tired all the time though and have pain in my hips as well.  I didn’t realise there were different brands until I started reading on here,  the ones I have are Sun Pharma also.

  • Hi mrs2017 I didn't realise that it depends which make you take as to the side affects either.  I take tablets for various reasons and I get prescribed different makes sometimes it depends on the stock they in the chemist I think.

  • Hi,  I saw my nurse today and she suggested taking the tablet at night rather than in the morning so I am going to try that now and see how it goes,  I hope I don’t get changed onto a different brand each time I get a prescription after getting used to one but we will have to see what I get given

  • Hi mrs2017 I am only taking these or two weeks until my mastectomy and then I have to start taking after the op so at the moment I will just put up with it.  When I start taking them again I will do as you are doing.  Even if you do get changed onto a different make it shouldn't make any difference.

Having just completed 4 chemo infusions over 12 weeks I have now started taking Letrozole.  First couple of days I had my tablet in the morning, however, after finding it was making my joints ache I switched to taking it in the evening. I still have  achy joints particularly my hips and wrists but hope this might ease more when the chemo chemicals start to diminish in my body.  certainly don't feel as bad since switching to evening medication.

    Hiya BGirl

I started Letrozole in Jan, the day I was diagnosed and know exactly what u mean about the pain! I'm currently sitting with a hot water bottle  propped against my lower back ....I can't stretch my arms, the pain is unbearable (radiotherapy is a nightmare)my knees are so painful to either sit or walk, no one tells u about the side effects or how they really feel!

  • I took the crescent brand for just over 5 months. I asked my gp to change to the femera brand as side effects were awful. He wasn’t keen on giving me femera as it is expensive. But the sude effects are subsiding and I am starting to feel better except for being tired   The crescent brand is £3 per month femera is £90.   Worth every penny !!!!

  • It has made a difference with me xx

  • I think it does depend on the brand    I think the cheap ones give worse sude effects. Apparently it is what the tablets are coated in !!!!
