Hi lovely ladies.
I have my oncology follow up appointment at the end of this week. Can anyone let me know what to expect from this appointment and what questions I should be asking? I had a bilateral mastectomy so I know I won't be having mammograms going forward. Should I be asking if I will be having ultrasound scans in future? Any advice will be welcome!!
Take care xx
The first thing I would want to know is whether or not they found anything in the chest wall, and in case they also took a couple of sentinel lymph nodes on either side, were they clear. I would then ask what treatment is proposed, what the benefits would be, any side effects and any risks either now or in future.
I would then ask about the frequency of follow ups and scans going forward, what they would involve, and over what period of time.
I would want to know if there was anything I needed to watch for and who I should contact if I needed to do so in between follow up appointments once all treatment was done.
