Chemo due to start 1/12 but this happens 2 days earlier. What should I expect (apart from watching a video which I think I’ve already watched online). Husband expected to attend as well. Told to allow 2-3 hours?
I went for one of these at my Oncology unit. There were a few other patients in attendance. It was just a PowerPoint presentation advising what would happen during the chemo session and possible side effects. There was opportunity to ask questions. Unexpectedly they did blood and Codid tests. It was helpful to see where I would be having the chemo and meeting the nursing staff.
Thanks I do now think they mentioned blood test - it’s becoming so routine I probably didn’t fully register that! Got to go in for covid test on Friday - wish I could collect air miles for all the to'ing and fro’ing
Hi Krissie57 life does seem to consist of a lot of appointments these days but once this treatment starts they do seem to reduce a bit to the blood and COVID tests 2 days before chemo and Oncologist appointment some time between treatments. My treatments are currently every 3 weeks though. My Oncologist will do a phone appointment but I prefer face to face and it’s good to have options.I agree about the air miles though!
