I have had my diagnosis for 8 weeks, I the time I have had double lumpectomy and double lymph node removal's.  ....... but now I have to wait til 30th Nov for my Oncology appt & I'm stressing big time

  • Hi there

Do you know why you are stressing?

    Are you worried about radiotherapy?

I used to be a radiotherapy radiographer so I can help you regarding radiotherapy if you have any questions

There is usually a gap between surgery and radiotherapy to allow you to heal as radiotherapy can slow down healing.

At your oncology appointment the oncologist will discuss your plan going forward and go through the benefits and risks of any treatment offered and obtain your consent to proceed to the next step.

I think once you have a plan of action going forward you will feel better.

Happy to help if you have any questions

    take care

Thank you so much for your reply, at the moment all I know is that I will have hormone medication,  as to whether I have chemo or radiotherapy im in the dark ( I know it will be one or the other) I think its the not knowing that is doing my head in x

Sorry that you are "stressing big time" waiting for your Oncology appointment.

Take a deep breath & try to relax. Be kind to yourself. I know that's easy to say but harder to do.

Have you thought about giving your self treats. My treats during my journey are manicures & pedicures. Having my nails painted with bold bright colours.

Remember that your body has been through a lot of trauma & needs enough time to settle down before the next step of treatment.

Every person making their way along this rocky road, has a multi displinary team planning the very best treatment in a suitable timeframe.

Stay safe & take great care of yourself.

Thank you so much for your reply,  I have dyed my hair pink lol but little treats sound a very good idea Slight smile I'm  finding the waiting period tough but  I'm hopeful once I know what is the next step I can cope better x

  • Yes we’ve all been there and the waiting and not knowing is the worst part.

Try and relax, have a few treats and don’t google too much.

This forum is a good place for support and to get questions answered .

    Take care
