As a large breasted women post reconstruction more Breast’s are obviously different sizes. I’m thinking of symmetry op. Any feedback, good or bad?! Thanks.
I can argue equally well both for and against, but the strength of and weight given to any argument would depend on personal inclination.
If I had to make the decision for myself, I would look for information regarding the success rate of such an operation, any possible complications, recovery time, any long term effects and influences on well-being and lifestyle.
I would then consider all of this in light of my own personal scale of priorities and what was most important to me, so if physical appearance was at the top, it is likely I would be willing to suffer pain and discomfort in order to achieve that if the chance of success was high, but if my top priority was to avoid any additional trauma to the body, I would look at whether or not I was willing to pay the cosmetic price for that.
The personal experiences or one or even several people may not give you the complete picture, so I hope that there is data available out there on a larger scale, but there is also value in hearing what others went through, especially if they have good advice on how to manage either option, whether it's managing the aftermath of surgery or managing uneven breasts. If no one who is currently here has experience with either, then perhaps Macmillan or Maggie's know of links or have further information.
Hi
Following a thermoplasty op on my left breast in 2013 as like you I was quite large breasted I was offered a symmetry operation on my right breast which I had done. I was glad I did as it meant I didn't have to worry about how to stuff out my bra on the left side just to look normal.
Now 8 years later had to have a mastectomy anyway as found a further lump in my left breast but more support regarding prosthesis etc seems to be available.
It is a personal decision though that really only you can make. Good luck
