Hoping to meet others whose partner's have cancer to share ideas & strategies etc.
Hello Hopekeepsmiling
My wife had a 12 year journey so I will try and help as best I can.
John
Hi there, you might be interested in this link to the friends and family group.
This chat thing is all new to me…… my partner is in her forth turn of chemo.
I thought that I could cope with it all but it turns out that I can’t, I am really struggling with everything and really hurting the ones around me that I love……. Iam really just looking for some advice if that’s ok
Hi John I need all the help I can get right now if that’s ok
I am similar to you mate and it's hard I've slowly started to learn to deal with it and not show my wife how upset etc I am , but when she is in hospital it's a different story but what does help is my wife's treatment is in Nottingham City hospital and at that that hospital they have a centre called Maggies full of great people and experts on cancer I go there and chat it helps ,
Whatever hospital your partner is having her treatment see if there is a maggies centre it's free and you can have free tea coffee chat to then or others in same situation ,
I keep telling myself my wife is gonna beat this and that also gives me strength to carry on ,
My best wishes to you and your partner i hope and pray it works out for you .
I will do my best to answer any questions you may have.
It might be a good idea to drop a few lines in your profile, that will give an idea of what point you are at.
All the best.
John
It's hard to try being strong on the outside when inside you are crumbling isn't it? This year has been the worst one of mine & my wife's life. Sometimes just being on here helps and as Mark said the Maggies centres are a great retreat. Plus nothing wrong with a meltdown and a cry either.Tell the ones around you how are feeling like you have on here, they'll try understand and offer you some patronising advice (ha like me i suppose!) but they mean well. We are starting radiotherapy on the 17th December (my birthday!) so it will run over xmas and the new year. Just trying to remain positive and trust the docs. All we can do, but you are definitely not alone.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
