Has a single Masectomy 3 weeks a go.I was told my Chest would be flat.In fact it is very and up and down, which is fine.I do however have a bump near my arm pit, which is irritating when I move my arm.I also find my comfy irritated it.

As an aside do others find the comfy moves around.Thanks.

Hi, WhiteLngly, I had a left mastectomy 6 days ago. I too thought my chest would be flat but, like you, very untidy with what I’m assuming is a seroma at the top of my armpit which is only comfortable when my arm is away from it. Can’t get on with softy, it moves upwards! Apart from that, I’m relieved at the lack of pain, just aching sometimes. Follow up appt on Friday, I’m hoping it’s going to be positive news. Good luck!

  • 7 days post single mastecotmy here. Comfy stays right where it should be, inside that pocket in the bra. Are you able to ask your nurse to help with yours? It could be an issue with size or position and they should be able to guide you even over the phone. Or perhaps a different bra would fit better.

Thanks GreyCat, I’m using a Sloggi bra at the moment which in comfortable but is too soft to keep the Comfy in place. When I see my BCN on Friday, I’ll get some advice about what to buy.

  • Thanks Grey cats and Tiggy 12.I hadn't being given bra pockets yet.I was told that I will get that advice when I see the prosthetic person. Not sure when that will be.I have seen bra pockets on line, but at £38.00 each i don't want to buy the wrong one.I wear mainly crop tops, that's probably the problem as they are soft.Thankfully I don't have a large chest so don't bother in the house.

  • Tiggy 12 hope your app goes well on Friday.I am still waiting for mine.I was told the results take up to 5 weeks to come back.My appointment may be a telephone one, although I would prefer face to face.I know I can contact BBC .

Had my results on Friday. No chemo or radiotherapy just Letrozole for 10 years. Such a relief. The BCN drained the seroma that had appeared in my armpit so that was more comfortable. I feel so lucky, compared to so many others who have a long journey ahead of them. I was unable to share my feelings with my partner, who has dementia but friends and neighbours understand.

  • My story is the same as yours,  Tilly.  I had a mastectomy  and axial clearance but 6 months on and on Letrozole.   I count myself as very lucky.

So pleased for you…are you getting on ok with Letrozole, any side effects? Because of my home circumstances, I chose mastectomy over lumpectomy, it would have difficult to go through the radiotherapy regimen, leaving my partner at home on a daily basis. I still have an option to have a reconstruction in the future but I’ve no idea how I will feel then. How about you?

  • Good news Tiggy.I am still awaiting results.Because I have a Liver condition they only wanted me to have one Op,so I choose a Mastectomy.I can't have chemo because of my Liver, but can have radiotherapy if needed.Just waiting. All the best Right and boaterry.

Oh, it must seem a long wait for your results, how are you feeling in the meantime? I had my dressing removed so I can now shower which is great but the left side of my chest feels partially bruised and numb, quite weird. I have to wait 2 weeks till I can start massaging the scar. I think I will feel better when I can do something positive, it doesn’t feel like part of me at the moment. Take care and stay positive.
