I had my mastectomy in July and over the last 2-3 days have developed tightness,
Hi Jacquie B
Sorry you've had to go through a mastectomy. I'm not sure what your question is as to whether this is normal or if anyone has experienced the same perhaps?
I haven't had a mastectomy (lumpectomy for me), so as your post had dropped down, perhaps anyone else who's had a mastectomy and might have had some similar tightness a few months later may be around at the moment to give you their experience as your post has dropped from 'latest'.
Kindest Wishes, Lesley
Hi Jacquie I had a bilateral mastectomy and node clearance in August . I still have tightness it's normal after surgery to have tightness ask to be referred to the breast care Physio she will work with you to reduce the tightness. Mine can come and go depending on if I have streched my muscles or sat around all day doing nothing. It's often your pectoral muscles that need a nice gentle stretch
Thank you - it was just that it has been relatively painless and then just these last couple of days so much stiffer and bruised looking
Hi Jacqueline b I had my mastectomy and lymph nodes removed jan this year and still
hsve tightness numbness and tenderness also occasionally itching but I have had chemo and radiotherapy but am now back at the gym 4 times a week so I think exercise helps flexibility but every pain makes me anxious too.
Hi,
I had a mastectomy 3 years ago and they gave me an exercise sheet, I duly followed their advise and did the exercises, even now I still do the stretches because it can still feel tight, the surgery and then radiotherapy damage the muscles and of course the nerves.
Hi Jacqui, I had a bilateral mastectomy August '21 & my left side was more concave & became pretty tight. I contacted my physio who went through some facia loosening exercises which will really helped. If you contact your BC nurse she could arrange for a physio appointment for you. Good luck. x
