Hi ladies.

Just a quickie.

I'm off for my ct scan and planning soon. Could anyone tell me, what to wear? What clothes do I need to remove?

Just checking if I need to shave my legs?ThinkingRofl

Thanks in advance.

Sue.

  • Hi, assume you mean CT and planning for radiotherapy? Don't wear a necklace, be prepared to take your top half off, you can leave bottoms on.  You can wear jeans for CT but not for MRI (due to metal zips) but I must admit I tended to wear leggings just in case and have always been able to keep these on.

If it's not for Radiotherapy and it's a regular CT as part of diagnosis, then you keep clothes on, again I think they aren't so keep on metal.   Hope this helps and good luck

  • Something comfy and easy to take off like joggers and T-shirt. Leave jewellery at home including earrings and wedding ring.

  • It can get cold in ct so warm socks help!

  • I had to take off everything top half and shoes. So I worse a front fastening bra and zipped tops as they were easy to remove with my arm still stiff from surgery.

They'll give you 3 tattoos (just tiny dots) - one centre of chest and other 2 under each arm. Just in case you were not aware of that! They are needed so that they can line you up exactly on the machine each session.

  • In August the changing rooms in the radiography department were still closed due to Covid measures so had to undress/dress (top half) behind a screen in the corner of the radiotherapy room. Brought a smile to my face to be offered a large piece of paper to cover my modesty, but I’ve had to have my boobs out so many times at hospital I thought no point in covering up now. On three out of the five days there was also a male staff member present but I’d been asked previously if I had any objections to having male staff. Any personal embarrassment went out the window years ago during my pregnancies and labours.

  • Had my ct and planning earlier today. All fine, I'm not really that embarrassed about having my 34h boobs on display. Although today, the radiographer was about the same age as my son and mentioned nipple on a few occasions. I felt at one stage, that I was going to burst into laughter! Rofl

  • Good for you! At least we can still raise a smile (sometimes) on our journeys..thank goodness!
