Hi there, I noticed no one has had the chance to answer yet and as the page is busy you've slipped to page 2. My response will bump you up again. I didn’t drive to chemo, but did to all other appointments and radiotherapy. I had chemo at home for 4 of my sessions as I am fortunate to have private medical via work and I think I could easily have driven after each one though as the side effects only kicked in around day 3-4. Hope this helps, maybe you have to see how it goes after the first one.
I was advised not to drive to chemo and didn’t but drove to all other appointments x I do feel spacey after chemo and cycle 2 had a UTI that made me feel awful almost immediately after chemo and couldn’t have driven safely x
I didn't have to drive as I live in an area which provides free taxis for all cancer related appointments but I know I wouldn't have been able too. I was sick twice in the taxi coming home from chemo and my radiotherapy was often early so on the way home I tended to fall asleep. However, I do live an hour from hospital. If it had been in the local hospital......it might have been different. My oncologist actually said ' no driving' during treatment.
I also know there have been many contributors on here who had no choice but to drive themselves especially for the radiotherapy and managed.
Hope the treatment goes well. Just take care. Maybe get a lift to chemo the first time to see how it goes. Love Karen
Hi just had 1st EC they told me not to drive to first one but I was fine so will be driving From now on it's only a mile I could walk but too tired x
Jayne
I didn't drive and felt really spacey after EC so couldn't have driven. I felt more OK after docetaxel, but I still got someone to drive me in and collect me each time. You don't know how you're going to react after each one and I was advised not to drive. Even with docetaxel, there was one cycle where my blood pressure was pretty low and I had to wait for it to come up a bit, so I was a bit dizzy.
I got taken in then collected again as chemo takes a few hours.
I totally agree. If you have the option not to drive then don’t, I appreciate not everyone has the option. I don’t sleep on the steroids, I’ve had a different reaction to each cycle of chemo, some immediate some delayed. Yes we are all different and it’s great when people respond well, I’m pleased for them but that is not reliable and not everyone’s experience by a long stretch. I was with a lady last week who started vomited profusely actually during chemo having been fine previously. Plan for the worst, hope for the best is my advice x
Hi how many cycles do you usually have. Is it 6 cycles, once every 3 weeks xxx
Have you had many side affects Jayne?
I've bought myself a wig that I'm happy with, they said even with a cold cap, I'm highly likely to loose my hair.
Opal x
