In shock at the moment. My biopsy showed grade 2 er 8/8 pr 7/8 idc, there was insufficient sample to do my her2. After surgery the above is the same but I am her2 positive. I am not medically trained, but I thought her2 positive was either grade 3 or yr er and pr was not high or 8/8 as mine is. Could anyone who is her2 positive please advise if they are 8/8 pls. On my letter with my results there was an error it stated er 4/8 pr 7/8 which would make more sense, but they are definite my er is 8/8. At my hospital there is another lady with the same name as me, they thought I was her at my wound review. So just asking please what your er and pr are if your her2 positive. Many thanks xxx
I don't know, it was at the start of lockdown so things were not working properly so I'm not at all sure I was ever given any figures, I had 7 c chemo of 2 different drups, lumpectomy, radiotherapy and targeted therapy, all in all 16 months of treatment. Hope that help
Shaz52 hello?
You may not like what I'm about to say, but believe me it's meant kindly:
I'm lying in bed with my left breast mastectomy scar raw and horrible and a drain coming out of me. I looked at myself for the first time last night and was both horrified and heartbroken but I'm here. I get to see another day on planet earth
Ask me what cancer stage and number I am and I don't know...This is my point to you Shaz52....
Forget the numerology, the positive this and negative that and who had which and now has what!!! Just get through your treatment, look up at the stars each night and every morning have a good stretch, take a few breaths and get up.
You are not a plan. your body is not an ordnance survey pre written map. you are unique. So whether you are doubleA-2÷3×4= quadriplegic negative F negative ¿☆♧D Positive etc etc it is only a medical guidance for a treatment given to many....its not a final prophecy or decided prognosis and outcome. We are all different, different cell make up, different ways of thinking, different ways of dealing with our problems. Remember this xxx
I may have a look at myself properly today or I may not. I have a choice how and when I deal with this, so do you my friend xx
Hi Shaz52, being oestrogen positive is a completely different thing to being HER2 positive, HER2 are receptors on your cells and when you’re HER2 positive your have 2 many of them receptors so it makes the cancer cells grow quicker. Oestrogen and progesterone are other completely different receptors so your ER or PR score wouldn’t affect whether you’re HER2 positive and vice versa. It just means if your ER score is high then they can target oestrogen as well as targeting HER2. You can also be HER2 at any grade from 1-3, although it’s more unlikely if your grade 1 as it’s slower growing but they still test for it just in case.
With regard to the other lady at your hospital and whether you’re getting her results, check on the letter that you have received for your appointments and it should show your NHS number, I think it’s 10 numbers long, so you could phone and check they have the right person.
They don’t test for HER2 on DCIS its precancerous so only the original tumour would be tested.
Best wishes xx
Excellent common sense Shaz, you are of course so right. The only thing that really matters is how you are and how you deal with it. I try to be positive don't always manage it but still keep trying. Good luck to everyone on here and keep going.
Hi I have been through the surgery side and am looking at another after this treatment. Had surgery on both my breasts. I like to understand what's going in inside me, they are going to administer me with treatment to help me so just like to understand why. I understand its all necessary but do need to understand reasons for treatment. I feel more explanations are needed when giving patients information, and I know they only can give the information that they currently have but I wasn't told afew things and then you feel like you have been hit by a shovel when you could of been prepared for it Hugs and best wishes xxx
