  1. Dear All, tomorrow is my big day. Surgery  in the morning. I feel sick when I think of it. I also have Parkinsons.  My system is easily upset, and then Parkinsons  goes out of control. There must be other people like me. If so what are your coping mechanisms ?

I'm sorry you are frightened ,  I have had a bilateral mastectomy and node clearance and half a node clearance in the other side. The surgery is not really painful and that's not me saying that lots of people have voiced that opinion. Our breasts are on the outside of our body so there is  minimal interference to the chest wall. My pain came when the drains came out and fluid built up.  I have found that hard. When is your surgery? I had mine done on 2/8)21 and am about to start Chemotherapy that's what is freaking me out. This is  going to be a long hard road for me.

    Take care

Are you worried about loosing a breast and the psychology damage that can do ?

  • I've been through both in the last 4 months.  I would say the axial clearance has been the worst  for me.  I had an infection and it laid me low for a few weeks but I'm now getting over that and  feeling so much better.

  • Good luck to you tomorrow.
My auntie has Parkinson’s so I know how difficult it is when you are stressed. Seems like it has an direct effect.
what are your worries exactly ?

Thankyou  Daisy.Im still awake.i leave for the hospital in I hour!

I can't rationalize my fears. I have been so calm on the outside but inside I'm terrified. I have been in control and now I'm not.

  • aw bless you. I have been awake all night too, but different worries.
by the time you know you are going to have your surgery, and will be en route to recovery.  I know it is mentally exhausting, but it’s the big day, it’s the day hopefully you may become cancer free! Your going to be so relieved after the surgery that it is over. Keep us updated
