Hi Everyone

I had a mastectomy & implant reconstruction 3 weeks ago

aside from scalding my boob with hot water as I have no feeling my biggest problem is pain . Under my mastectomy  with implant boob ( the other is just an implant to match up )the pain is off the scale. It is like I have been stabbed. I wake up with it hurts to move wash etc. the would looks good according g to everyone.

i spoke to my plastic surgeon who is more anxious about the burn & infection compromising the implant .

however my day to day life is so affected by the pain. Tramadol helps but I have to have bone scans etc  ( due to cancer in axill found at surger) and it is difficult moving . I know it’s early day 4 weeks but  is this normal ?

it’s hard with the anxiety of has it spread to also be in pain !

  • Hi  I didn't have a mastectomy so I can't offer too much advice but as no one had responded to you yet by me responding it will bump your post back up to the top of the list where someone who can help might see it this time.

If the pain is really that bad can your surgeon not prescribe some pain killers for you, there really shouldn't be any reason for you to be left to deal with so much pain.  I would ask for pain meds and keep pushing for an answer as to why you are in so much pain.  Did they say this level of pain is normal 4 weeks on?

Don't suffer in silence keep going back to your medical team until they find something that helps you.

Wishing you all the best with it x

Hi Sagey, I’ve had a mastectomy but no implant and it was only a week ago. I’m finding any movement causes the pain under the scaring to burn and sting . I’m taking paracetamol and codeine but I put the pain down to the nerve endings knitting back together again, how long it will go on for  I don’t know.. I’m sure this hasn’t been very helpful to you but I just wanted you to know your not alone on this journey,

hope you start to feel better soon. Big hugs. X

  • Thank you for responding.I never thought about nerve endings pain. It is easing very slowly . Bending down and reaching is very painful still. Surgeon don’t seem worried. I must learn to be patient I guess

Sagey that is exactly it, reaching and bending down is something else isn’t it.
