Hello everyone.
I asked the surgeon about oncotype testing for my mum. However he said my mum doesn’t qualify for one.
I am a bit confused, and wanted to know if you guys know much about qualifying for one?
Oncotype testing is done to see the benefit of chemo in women who are ER+ , HER2- with clear nodes or a micro deposit in one. If there is macro deposit (more than a few mm) in one, or 2+ nodes then chemo is usually standard treatment. You can pay for it privately, but it's c.£2000!
Ohh okay thank you so much for your reply. Mum had two positive nodes from sentinel node biopsy! Maybe that’s why then. But the surgeon still said mum might not need chemo depending if it’s not her2 positive but I don’t know
Treatment for HER2+ includes chemo. Are they removing thr rest of her nodes or giving radiotherapy instead?
Still waiting for results, but approaching 6 weeks post op. They said they will contact us when they have results of the her2 as that will determine what will Happen
