My liver does not like chemo I am 3/4 throw my chemo and it’s been stopped if my liver does not improve I won’t have any more chemo but surgery will be brought forward with radiotherapy and chemo tablets what I am worried about is will this be enough treatment to kill my breast cancer my boob has gone back to normal and my lump in armpit has gone I have Tripple negative breast cancer

  • Hi , sorry to hear you are having such a tough time of it with chemo.

I would try posting your question on the chemotherapy group HERE as it is more likely to be seen by someone who has gone through something similar to you.

Also maybe speak to your medical team about alternative therapies that might be able to help your liver recover and detox. I didn't need chemo so I have no personal experience of this but personally I'm a strong believer in homeopathy and it's what I would try but I know not every one is a fan or believes in it and if it's not for you perhaps there are other alternative treatments or herbal remedies that your medical team can suggest.

I'm not sure anyone can give you any guarantees on whether your treatment will be enough to kill off every single cancer cell irrespective of whether you manage to finish the chemo or not.  I think your oncologist should be able to give you an approximate risk of reoccurrence of cancer with and without you completing chemo and if the difference is small then finishing chemo or not is not as big a worry.

You've done three quarters of it which seems quite good so hopefully that has brought your chance of reoccurrence down to a low enough level.  Only your medical team can tell you so discuss it with them.

Hopefully someone who has gone through similar will come along soon and share their experiences with you.

  • Hi Hover, I didn't have my chemo stopped but I did have the dose reduced, so even if yours is stopped they are going to give you chemo tablets which is the same thing, I was told that there was no point in making me ill to keep the chemo level up and as the dose is worked out on height X weight,  it does not suit everyone.  I am now in remission so there is everything to hope and pray for.  Hope that help Love from Ann
